Code_Aster Training

We propose a training offer dedicated to the users of the finite element calculation software Code_Aster, developed by the R&D department of EDF.

Sample building used in trainings

This software designed to be generalist and multiphysics is a tool commonly used in several fields:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Precision Mecanics
  • Naval Engineering
  • Materials Science
    etc.

The courses offered are aimed at several profiles: from the beginner in the numerical simulation to the expert who wants an advanced solution.

A basic knowledge of structural mechanics is advised (if necessary, a preparatory module can be provided upstream of the software training).

Organisation

Depending on the number of participants, one or two trainers will be on hand to help during the practical work.

The trainers have at least 10 years of experience in the field of the simulation with Code_Aster and expertise in the industrial applications.

We can provide the whole training program in different languages: English, French, Italian, German

Training room

Each training is available in two formats: in situ at the Customer’s premises or, alternatively, at the premises provided by the Sceaux Smart organization (dedicated room) at :

10 rue Gaston Lévy 92330 Sceaux, France

Please write us for information about prices and dates.

Basic Program

The organization of the training can be personalized according to the available time, the field of application, the level of the participants and the arguments of interest.

Simple structure for the basic program

An example of basic program:

1st Day

  • Basics of finite element simulations
  • Introducing the Salome-Meca platform: GEOM modules SMESH (pre-treatment) and Paravis (post-processing), Code_Aster / AsterStudy (solver EF) .
  • Presentation of a simple structure calculation with Code_Aster: main commands to realize a linear, static or modal computation
  • Reading of the mesh (provided), definition of the finite element, definition and assignment of the materials and the characteristics of the elements of structure, static analysis, post-treatments.
  • The boundary conditions (loads and constraints)
  • linear static analysis
  • TP 1: Standard building subjected to static loads

2nd Day

  • Defining characteristics of materials
  • Elements beam (definition of sections and orientations) and shells
  • Post-processing commands in Code_Aster
  • Displaying results
  • Presentation of the commands for the modal computation + spectral method with Code_Aster
  • TP 2: spectral modal computation

3rd Day

(optional, typically personalized, choice between the arguments, other subjects can be added on demand)

  • Variable boundary conditions (formulas and functions)
  • Buckling: critical load in the absence of imperfections
  • Fatigue as post-processing of a mechanical calculation
  • Harmonic response
  • Nonlinear analyzes: contact / plasticity / large deformations / damage

Advanced Training: Civil Engineering

This program is dedicated to the field of constructions.

Structure under seismic load (amplified)

Available arguments (other subjects can be treated on demand):

  • Calculation of elementary cases and combinations by manipulation of the fields
  • Reinforcement densities according to Eurocode 2
  • Spectral method for seismic calculation
  • Multifibre beams
  • Cables, grids and membranes
  • Young age of concrete (hydration), drying, creep,
  • Damage
  • Porous media
  • Verification of reservoirs

Advanced Training: Soil-Structure Interaction

Program for works in which it is important to evaluate phenomena such as the accumulation of soil, the propagation of an earthquake to the building by the foundations, etc.
